Sydney Goeman-Teacher and Choreographer
Sydney Goeman began her dance journey at the age of two, joining Accent on Dance at nine, where her passion for the art form was first nurtured. She continued her education at the University of Arizona, graduating in 2013 with a BFA in Dance and a Minor in Business Administration. During her studies, Sydney trained with renowned choreographers including James Clouser, Elizabeth George, Sam Watson, and Doug Nielsen. She also had the opportunity to work with Ann Reinking and Gary Chryst on “Chicago Suite” and perform “Megalopolis” by Keigwin Dance Company. Notably, Sydney performed with Art.if.Act Dance Project in China during the summer of 2012. Upon relocating to Chicago, Sydney trained on scholarship at Visceral Dance Center and performed with Esoteric Dance Project. Her credits include “Within” with Visceral Dance Center and “New Dances” with Thodos Dance Chicago. Currently, she is a principal dancer and founding member of Nova Linea Contemporary Dance, where her professional experience deeply informs her teaching practice. Sydney has been an esteemed faculty member at Accent on Dance for several years, where she teaches across a range of programs from enrichment classes to the national team. As a dedicated mother of two, Sydney balances her family life with her passion for dance, bringing a grounded and relatable approach to her instruction. Her commitment to both her students and her craft continues to inspire and elevate the studio's educational offerings.
